Kanu Ntshoko, a cultural practitioner, musician, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from kwaLanga, embodies the vibrant heritage of his community. Our discussions often delve into the rich history of uLanga, where Kanu generously imparts knowledge on the township's music and musicians.
During our recent session, I wanted  to make images of Kanu's essence as a modern man deeply rooted in tradition. Together, we curated a visual narrative using symbolic elements such as the blanket he gracefully holds, the beads adorning his neck, and the doek adorning his head – each carrying profound significance within Xhosa culture.
Here are a select few images from our collaborative exploration, encapsulating Kanu's dynamic identity and the cultural tapestry he represents as uTypopho.
